4 Apps for the 4th of July

by: | Jul 3, 2014

It’s almost holiday time, and while some of us are actually working today, we’ll admit our minds may be drifting a bit — ahem, especially the author of this post — to 4th of July plans for fun, food, and fireworks.

With celebrations looming, here are four apps each for iOS and Android to help get your primed.

iOS Apps

Guess: Hotdogs or Legs? — While you’re waiting to see if Joey Chestnut can break his own record and devour 70 hot dogs, you’ll be more than entertained by this game. The similarity between the human leg and a hotdog is… alarming.

Honorable mention: There are too many good (dare we say “innovative”?) hot dog apps to name just one. You might also like Major League Eating and Hot Dog Maker!

More Pie — Who doesn’t like pie? Do we really need to explain why this game would be on our list? You can go through all the virtual steps of creating a digital pie with an endless list of ingredients. The downside: It’s guaranteed to make you want the real stuff.

America! – 4th of July Independence Day Photo Celebration — These days, you just can’t have a special occasion without a good selfie. This app makes it easy to add a splash of patriotism to your selfie, effects guaranteed to get some likes among your Facebook friends (or if you’re too cool for that, you can email to your always appreciative parents).

Fireworks Arcade — This may inspire a few “oohs” and “ahhs” while you’re waiting for the real show to begin. It’s a clever little game with several different modes of play.

Android AppsWe the People - 4th of July

We the People — This is for everyone who at one point or another has been asked by their kids the meaning of a specific holiday — and your answer was more fiction than fact. We the People includes the full text of the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights and and a few other historical docs.

Bartender — Planning a party? This guide is one of the better bartender aids.  Your friends might think you got a degree in mixology.

Barbecue Grill Recipes Free — If you’re looking for grilling inspiration, this is a good place to start.  But be forewarned, do not — I mean DO NOT — install and start using this app on an empty stomach. It’s torture.

Calorie Counter – MyFitnessPal — Maybe this one is better for the 5th of July. Or maybe you’re curious just how many calories you can ingest in one holiday fell swoop. Either way, this is a good app to use to start understanding how your food translates to your squishy (or firm) body.

Enjoy, and from all of us at ArcTouch, have a happy and safe 4th of July celebration!
