As part of their evolution toward a digital-first future, Lonely Planet wanted to expand the brand from a destination for travel content to a knowledgeable guide that supports travelers through every stage of the journey. And to do that, they needed to meet modern travelers where they make decisions: their phones. ArcTouch partnered with Lonely Planet to create a mobile experience from scratch. The iOS and Android app seamlessly bridges the gap between dreaming about a destination and navigating it confidently on the ground — an experience worthy of the trust Lonely Planet has earned over five decades. ### Designed for explorers The app helps travelers cut through digital noise by replacing endless scrolling with trusted, human-curated travel expertise. Designed specifically for millennial explorers to easily discover authentic recommendations and seamlessly build highly flexible, actionable trip itineraries. ### Continuous travel companion Moving away from episodic interactions, the app provides ongoing utility across the entire travel lifecycle. Users get an intuitive travel guide that remains equally valuable whether they are daydreaming at home, organizing a trip timeline, or looking for contextual, real-world advice on the ground. ### Server-Driven & Optimistic UI The app utilizes server-driven UI to give Lonely Planet operational autonomy. Teams can dynamically tweak layout configurations, UI components, and editorial content without forcing users through App Store or Google Play updates.
