ArcTouch recently released results of a new mobile user experience survey, fielded by research firm Precision Sample, titled “Functional but Unfriendly: A Study of Enterprise Mobile App User Experience.” The research found that office workers who use company-issued apps for their jobs say the apps help make them more productive and efficient. But the survey also found the user experience of those apps falls short of expectations. Some of the main takeaways:
- While mobile apps are well-entrenched in our “consumer” lives, there’s a massive opportunity for companies to provide apps for their employees, enterprise mobility solutions that help improve how people do their jobs — and make them more enjoyable.
- Very few people are using company-provided apps for work right now.
- People’s expectations for work apps don’t match the performance of those apps in crucial UX attributes, such as usefulness, relevance, functionality and speed.
- According to Gartner, the demand for IT mobile development resources in 2017 will outpace the availability of resources.
