The Skyjet app for iPhone was honored last week with the Best Mobile User Experience award at EyeforTravel’s 2016 Mobile Innovation in Travel Awards. Designed and developed by ArcTouch in collaboration with Skyjet, the app simplifies private jet travel, allowing travelers to easily charter private flights with the touch of a finger.

ArcTouch cofounder and chief experience officer, Adam Fingerman, shared the Skyjet app’s story with a panel of judges at EyeforTravel’s annual conference, held in San Francisco. Other finalists in the category included some of the most influential brands in travel: American Airlines, Alaska Airlines and Dohop.

Mobile User Experience For The Travel Industry

What separated the Skyjet app from other finalists in the best mobile user experience category was the enormous problem Skyjet solved for its customers. Historically, booking a private jet has been a cumbersome process, often involving phone calls and paperwork. And for users, finding information like flight options and pricing has been difficult and time consuming. The Skyjet app design, along with development on the company’s back end system, helped bring the key information to within a few touches on an iPhone.

“Delivering transparency and a simple user experience in this industry is an enormous leap,” Fingerman said. “This is a case where the engineering behind the scenes was the true hero — even the best mobile user experience can be shackled if the tech can’t deliver on the promise.”

In Skyjet’s press release announcing the mobile app award, president Greg Richman said: “We are proud to have won the Best Mobile Travel User Experience award from a field of finalists that included some of the biggest names in travel. The award recognizes our app, which offers a faster, safer and more efficient experience than traditional charter booking.”
